30 Years of Ochre

Saturday marked the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the foundation of Ochre in Cairns.  Although their story started with Red Ochre in Shield Street before moving to the now more familiar venue on the inlet, the drive and consistency of Ochre as pioneers of native ingredients and mod oz fusion is known not just to the residents of Cairns but to visitors from all corners of the globe who have come here for the dining experience.

This marvellous milestone is a fantastic opportunity for Craig Squire and Carley Elsum to boast about their achievements as they become one of the rare members of the three decade club which are dotted around Far North Queensland.  A great evening was had by all, and the diversity of attendees from politicos to hospos, former employees, and other well known names in the industry illustrate the fondness that has been developed over this time for such an iconic restaurant.
