From Copper To Gold

The newest addition to the esplanade dining strip opens this week.  Copper bar and grill is the creation of Mazhar Ahmed, former manager of local favourite Waterbar & Grill. This new eatery takes over the location previously occupied by long-running Ala Turka restaurant and brings another exciting offering to this already diverse dining precinct.  Mazhar brings with him a wealth of previous experience from all over the world, most notably working for the Gordon Ramsey Group in London. In a recent interview, Mazhar explained that this project was the realisation of a lifelong dream to open a venue of his own, and he looked forward to the creative freedom that owning your own venue brings with it.

Head chef and Abdul Dumbuya, also a former Waterbar alumnus, has worked with Mazhar to create an eclectic menu inspired by dishes from all around the world. From Jamaican Jerk chicken, right through bar and grill favourites from burgers to steaks, Chef Abdul has collaborated with local suppliers to create an all-inclusive menu utilising local and seasonal ingredients.
